[Bug 1208728] New: Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 10 won't enter S3 sleep on kernel 6
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208728 Bug ID: 1208728 Summary: Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 10 won't enter S3 sleep on kernel 6 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: victorfuga@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Starting with kernel 6, my thinkpad x1 carbon will not enter s3 sleep even when set as the default sleep option. Checked a few distros and noted it was working using kernel 5.19 "LTS" in manjaro. Currently running Tumbleweed snapshot 20230226, sleep mode is set to "Linux" in the bios. Checked on lid close, sleep button in KDE, and Fn + 4 key combo. $ cat /sys/power/mem_sleep s2idle [deep] $ sudo journalctl | grep "PM: suspend" | tail -2 2 27 18:29:09 reisen kernel: PM: suspend entry (s2idle) 2 27 18:29:11 reisen kernel: PM: suspend exit -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Changing the sleep option in the bios from "Linux S3" to "Windows and Linux" shows only s2idle in /sys/power/mem_sleep -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Or doesn't s2idle work as expected? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

The display and keyboard backlight will turn off initially but almost immediately come back on showing sddm. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

It might be interesting to compare the measurement. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208728 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208728#c6 --- Comment #6 from Victor Fugazzotto <victorfuga@gmail.com> --- I can try to measure, though I would not expect much different from if I left it running with suspend disabled as I can see the display still on with the lid closed and journalctl says it exits idle after two seconds. Looking farther back in the log, it does seem to at least try to enter deep sleep but again exits after a few seconds. $ sudo journalctl | grep "PM: suspend" | tail -10 3 10 08:38:35 reisen kernel: PM: suspend entry (s2idle) 3 10 08:38:37 reisen kernel: PM: suspend exit 3 10 08:53:37 reisen kernel: PM: suspend entry (deep) 3 10 08:53:40 reisen kernel: PM: suspend exit 3 10 08:53:40 reisen kernel: PM: suspend entry (s2idle) 3 10 08:53:42 reisen kernel: PM: suspend exit 3 10 08:56:22 reisen kernel: PM: suspend entry (deep) 3 10 08:56:24 reisen kernel: PM: suspend exit 3 10 08:56:24 reisen kernel: PM: suspend entry (s2idle) 3 10 08:56:26 reisen kernel: PM: suspend exit -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
