http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1207355 Bug ID: 1207355 Summary: Battery drain despite shutdown... Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: 64bit OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: millstonepoet@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- An unspecified update during the last month has resulted in a "shutdown" bug. The behavior is as follows: Signalling shutdown, either via GUI or CLI, results in a sort of false shutdown that rapidly drains the battery if left unattended. The laptop will have all the appearances of having shutdown. The only telltale sign that the laptop hasn't properly shutdown, is that the keyboard backlights remain lit for some 10 seconds after the computer itself appears to have shutdown. Attempting to hard-restart, at this point, is impossible. One is forced to hold down the power button for at least one minute or more, as though some software glitch is making the system non-responsive. The only workaround I've found so far is to logout and force a hard shutdown with the power button. I marked this has "major" as the repeated draining of the battery is ultimately damaging.
