[Bug 1184074] New: switching video output from nvidia to hd530, system won't reboot/shutdown anymore
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1184074 Bug ID: 1184074 Summary: switching video output from nvidia to hd530, system won't reboot/shutdown anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: pandre.x@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 847740 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=847740&action=edit output trying to reboot the system I installed the whole system with an Nvidia GT710. I know decided to use the internal gpu (HD530) and get ride of the nvidia. The system stopped to switch off and reboot properly. I have to do it brutally every single time. It seems it hangs without a particular reason. Switching back the HDMI cable to the nvidia, everything goes back to normal. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

It's likely due to the HDMI silent stream that conflicts with the (non-working) Nvidia HDMI audio. The kernel config was turned off recently, but I guess it's not propagated to the released kernels yet.
As a workaround, add the boot option snd_hda_codec_hdmi.enable_silent_stream=0
Thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately the boot option doesn't solve the issue. I'd also like to add some new information: my thoughts were that something got corrupted having previously installed via Nvidia output, so I tried to re-install a full new TW installation in an external SSD using the HD530 only. This has not been solve the issue either. So, I guess it's something related to my iGPU. The nvidia has no blame, apparently :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

I'm building a test kernel with a possible fix patch. It's being built in OBS home:tiwai:bsc1184074 repo and the package will be available later at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tiwai:/bsc1184074/standard/ Could you give it a try later? The build will finish in an hour or so... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
