This concluded that the resume problem is no regression of the recent firmware files, at least. Also, could you tell which firmware version did boot properly? I suppose 20.40 caused the same problem? BTW, if you get stuck at boot due to the graphics problem, you can boot once with "nomodeset" boot option, and fix/revert things. The option will disable the native DRM driver.
