[Bug 1193970] New: SD7.0 Express Card + JMS581LT Card Reader 152d:0581 stuck in UHS-I mode and not upgraded to NVME mode
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1193970 Bug ID: 1193970 Summary: SD7.0 Express Card + JMS581LT Card Reader 152d:0581 stuck in UHS-I mode and not upgraded to NVME mode Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: ich@schugy.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The Blueendless SD05 card reader should support M.2 SATA SSDs, M.2 NVME SSDs and also SD7.1 Express cards. When a SD Express Card is inserted only the much slower UHS-I interface is being used (only 1/10th of the expected speed). The second row of pins needed for the SD Express standard is visible in the card slot and on the back of the card. Given the omnipresence of SD cards they should be used to their full potential. The card is an ADATA Premier Extreme SD7.0 Express card (ASD256GEX3L1-C / GTIN 4711085935717). Some SD Express code is already in the kernel: https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-mmc/patch/1603353768-3298-1-git-s... uname -r 5.15.7-1-default dmesg usb 2-1: new SuperSpeed Plus Gen 2x1 USB device number 7 using xhci_hcd usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=152d, idProduct=0581, bcdDevice=11.04 usb 2-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 2-1: Product: USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge usb 2-1: Manufacturer: JMicron usb 2-1: SerialNumber: 0123456789ABCDEF scsi host1: uas scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access JMicron Generic SD70 1104 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6 sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] 493895680 512-byte logical blocks: (253 GB/236 GiB) sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] 4096-byte physical blocks sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 53 00 00 08 sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Optimal transfer size 33553920 bytes not a multiple of physical block size (4096 bytes) sdb: sdb1 sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk lsusb -vvd 152d:0581 Bus 002 Device 007: ID 152d:0581 JMicron Technology Corp. / JMicron USA Technology Corp. Some SD Express code is already in the kernel: https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-mmc/patch/1603353768-3298-1-git- send-email-rui_feng@realsil.com.cn/
It's about MMC, so likely a completely different implementation. IMO, this should be better reported and handled in the upstream development. If there is a material to backport to distro kernel, we'll happily take it. In anyway, as this being a USB thing, adding Oliver to Cc. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
