http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1176121 Bug ID: 1176121 Summary: kernel 5.8.4-1-default: crash during boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: daniel.wagner@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0 Build Identifier: I've updated my system and the new kernel 5.8.4-1-default got installed. The system was not able to boot (consistently). After dropping quiet argument I could take a photo of the stacktrace. Though I fear there isn't much information in there. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Sep 03 08:46:16 beryllium kernel: Linux version 5.8.4-1-default (geeko@buildhost) (gcc (SUSE Linux) 10.2.1 20200825 [revision c0746a1beb1ba073c7981eb09f55b3d993b32e5c], GNU ld (GNU Binutils; > [...] Sep 03 08:46:16 beryllium kernel: Trying to unpack rootfs image as initramfs... Sep 03 08:46:16 beryllium kernel: Initramfs unpacking failed: XZ-compressed data is corrupt
IIRC, the above boot attempt failed a different place. I wouldn't give the above log message to much weight. It looks like a different problem to me. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
