[Bug 1187504] New: 'bcm2835-sdhost' breaks on kernel updates
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1187504 Bug ID: 1187504 Summary: 'bcm2835-sdhost' breaks on kernel updates Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: scott.bradnick@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Fresh install of Tumbleweed on Raspberry Pi 3 (Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2) is rendered unbootable after 1st kernel update. I went about my configuration when 5.12.9 was installed (20210609, I believe) and when "zypper dup" put 5.12.10 on it, it no longer booted (errors on HDMI console [about librt.so.1?]) and neither kernel would boot - each with different errors. I did a fresh install with the same .xz file copied to the SDcard and immediately did a zypper dup ; this time paying closer attention to the output. This caught my eye: dracut-install: Failed to find module 'bcm2835-sdhost' dracut: FAILED: /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-install -D /var/tmp/dracut.jqeBqi/initramfs -N i2o_scsi --kerneldir /lib/modules/5.12.9-1-default/ -m sdhci_iproc bcm2835-sdhost bcm2835_dma mmc_block dwc2 and it was printed for both kernels. So I removed "bcm2835-sdhost" from "/etc/dracut.conf.d/raspberrypi_modules.conf" and ran mkinitrd manually. That message wasn't printed and I'm able to boot into 5.12.10. I'm not sure what's to provide "bcm28350-sdhost" but it appears it isn't provided by default and that FAILED dracut-install then renders the system unbootable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
