[Bug 1195168] New: kernel-default-5.3.18-150300.59.43.1.x86_64 freeze on boot with radeon
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1195168 Bug ID: 1195168 Summary: kernel-default-5.3.18-150300.59.43.1.x86_64 freeze on boot with radeon Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.3 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Leap 15.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: d_werner@gmx.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- After todays kernel update to kernel-default-5.3.18-150300.59.43.1.x86_64 screen gets black after loading the initrd, possibly when the kms activation happens. The system freezes, boot does not continue as far as I can tell - the system does not get reachable via network. With the boot parameter nomodeset the system boots with this kernel in text mode. Therefore the problem could be related to the radeon driver. dmesg of the previous kernel-default-5.3.18-59.40-default has this to say about the video hardware: [ 3.436523] [drm] radeon kernel modesetting enabled. yes, I can confirm that the kernel kernel-default-5.3.18-150300.249.1.ge7319e4.x86_64 from Could you try the latest kernel in OBS Kernel:SLE15-SP3 repo? http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/SLE15-SP3/pool/ resolves the issue.
