There are two ways to enable a Raspberry Pi camera and the necessary interface:
Option 1 - bcm2835-camera driver (VC4 firmware driven, "old" way)
This requires VCHIQ enabled for BCM2711 in mainline which isn't available yet,
because the DMA driver doesn't support 36 bit.
Option 2 - unicam driver (driver directly by the ARM cores and Linux, new way)
This driver hasn't mainlined yet.
So the behavior is currently expected for mainline.
