Further to my last post. After I restarted KDE the extension task bar which is very conveniently located at the top of the screen ,did not reappear,this happens about once in 10 or 12 openings. I was able to expand the kicker panel to the full screen width using the preferences box. The intermittent extension taskbar problem is still unsolved. KDE1 used to have it at the top of the screen by default so why was it buried in the main kicker bar ? Does not anyone use the extension task bar at top of screen?
