Unknown protocol 'devices'
Hello list, A few days ago I enabled 'Show device icons' on my desktop. (Control Center -> Desktop -> Behavior -> Device Icons) Since that moment, every time as KDE starts, I get an Error dialog with the following message: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'devices'. . Yup, that last single dot was also in the dialog. And this was in ~/.xsession-errors: kdesktop: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'devices'. kdesktop: The cause of this error seems to be the reason why I can't get any device icons on my desktop. Does anybody know how to solve this? KDE version: Release 3.3.0 (SuSE supplementary rpms) Thanks in advance, Cheers, Leen

Install kdebase3-extra
Thanks Anders. :) Actually I already had a look at the package description of kdebase3-extra (and other packages), but I did not notice anything that I would need:
KDE Base package: Extra Applications This package contains applications which are usually not needed on SuSE Linux.
- kappfinder - adds menu entries for applications
- kpersonalizer - sets different settings
