If I select gstreamer as primary engine in kde, pulseaudio doesn't work. If I use xine, users, can have sound. Why ? Gstreamer was working great during the last year ..... Is this related to our new discussion about Gstreamer ? Did we get a pb with packman related rpm ? Now the pb is simple. If I select gstreamer as primary engine in kde, pulseaudio doesn't work. If I use xine, users, can have sound.
Why ? Gstreamer was working great during the last year ..... Is this related to our new discussion about Gstreamer ?
Did we get a pb with packman related rpm ?
Anyway what's bad, if I'm not alone, users using 11.2 with the KDE/Distro/Stable can encounter this type of problems. and it's pretty hard to detect, there's no errors in logs, in /var/log/messages, .xsession-errors.

We have the makings of the vlc backend in build service but (I haven't looked at it yet) the crippled vlc doesn't build. From research it seems the vlc and xine backends are the best. The gstreamer bunch of packages in multimedia:libs are building for factory but have various problems with the earlier versions, even 11.3 so gstreamer is inconsistent version wise between packages. It needs some tlc from somebody, I've other packages I can't neglect. Maybe it's because of this, I haven;t seen anything negative about pulse 4.4.4 yet. I'm working on xine-lib atm and it refuses to build without it's internal ffmpeg, after I got the pre-checkin script to work properly. You should have a look at the spec file somebody put %bcond's for every feature, I've removed them in my local copy but won't check it in until it's suse legal. So it's not so crippled after all atm. I can play mpeg2 with the mmlibs libxine . Anyway, I've followed the suggestion to agregate GNOME:Factory gobject-introspection to multimedia:libs which will hopefully get the gstreamers building properly for <= 11.3. i use xine for testing dvd menus and aspect ratios, kaffeine chokes on dvd menus it follows them but doesn't return at the end, you have to press stop and then play again, it's also too good with correcting aspect ratios and doesn't show up problems that occur when the dvd is shown on a tv. Vlc doesn't handle dvd menus properly either although now I've fixed libdvdnav and libdvdread to build with pkg-config maybe things will change there. They should be in factory next week. I've just received the possible solution from another thread on this list, the one about unmaintained xine. It appears the gobject-introspection package is too old for the < 11.4 packages so I've just aggregated it from GNOME:Factory, hopefully it will work. Now the pb is simple. If I select gstreamer as primary engine in kde, pulseaudio doesn't work. If I use xine, users, can have sound.
Why ? Gstreamer was working great during the last year ..... Is this related to our new discussion about Gstreamer ?
Did we get a pb with packman related rpm ?
Anyway what's bad, if I'm not alone, users using 11.2 with the KDE/Distro/Stable can encounter this type of problems. and it's pretty hard to detect, there's no errors in logs, in /var/log/messages, .xsession-errors.
