Hello SuSE KDE people. Posted this on the KDE list a week ago and got zero zilch replies. Figured I would repost it here in hopes that my SuSE people may have an answer. Running SuSE 10 and KDE 3.4.2. I use Konqueror as my file browser and use the icon view. Awhile ago, (after upgrading 9.2 to 10.0) I found that the icons in the Konqueror file browser are not lining up in the window in any logical order. eg: The first row will have 3 icons, the next row will have 5, then 2 icons, then 5, etc. etc. The columns do not align eg: the icons fall inbetween the row above and or below. Don't know if I am making myself clear here but would be happy to elaborate or post a screen shot if nobody understands what I am talking about. Not a big deal but is annoying and would like to know why this is happening. Shouldn't have anything to do with the space required for the naming of the icons because the names can be short or long (with one, two or three rows) and doesn't seem to make any difference. Bob S. PS This also happened in KDE 3.5.1 before I reverted back to 3.4

Here's a shot in the dark - what are the contents of $HOME/.kde/share/config/konqiconviewrc, and what happens if you exit KDE, log in on the command line, move that file aside (to your $HOME for example) and log in again? HTH Will

Thanks for trying Will. Tried what you said and same result. These are the lines in the new file: (The old file had an additional line about showing hiddden files) [Settings] SortDirsFirst=true SortingCriterion=sort_nci Don't know what nci stands for. Guess I will just have to live with it for the time being. Bob S.

I also just upgraded from 9.2 to 10.0 and don't have this problem.. I'll bet it's related to the 3.5.1 update/reversion. -- Joe Cook <cookspc@pine-net.com> Cook's Computer & Software
