[opensuse-kde] Konsole in KDE 4.4 so slow, ugly font
Hi there, I just updated my openSUSE 11.2 to KDE 4.4 stable tree. When I now start konsole it is very slow starting. Why? And the font i previously used with KDE 4.3 is now looking so damn ugly! I have used Misc Console for ages and now it looks so ugly! What font do you recommend for konsole? I think there is no better font than Deja Vu (sans mono). It has excellent Unicode support and renders _very_ well. There are others to consider if you don't need much in the way of Unicode support. Also, the font configuration is important. Set your Hinting Style to not more than Slight or you'll make things worse instead of better. In fact, I believe "Full" and "Medium" to mean the same as "None". -- Jon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Took it for now. It looks okay. But "misc console" was rendered beautifully on KDE 4.3.5. With KDE 4.4 misc console just looks bad.

I have alwaysed use "full" with subpixel hintin, to me this way fonts have always looked good... Malte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

1-Please define "ugly". There are many definitions of ugly, typically colored by personal taste and size. 2-You might wish to try any of: DejaVu Sans Mono Liberation Mono Droid Sans Mono 3-Misc Console is a bitmap font available in only one size. Modern environments best make use scalable fonts available in many sizes almost exclusively. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Misc Console is not rendered correctly in KDE 4.4. With KDE 4.3.5 it looked just fine. Now, the font looks to big. When searching with Google I found many other people with the same issues, seems to be a KDE bug.

Looks okay, but I've always liked "misc console" very much. Malte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
