Hi my problem is that the printer is installed in the System and i can send commands to the print, Suse 9.0 can find the printer and it is display in Yast2. i installed it over the ptal driver and its called like : ptal:/mlc:usb:psc_1100_series
but if i goto print something he doesn't do anything. this is an all in one printer and the scanning function works really fine. The Printer always displayed in the KDE controlcentre a small red "! " before the printer name. I think something is wrong with the connection between the OS and the printer. Do you know how i can check this or how i must configure this part. The driver are installed right an PTAL finds the printer. Sorry i am a newbie but if you give me direct commands i think i can install the printer
Thx a lot
Stefan
Please keep this on the SuSE list, as others may have a better idea on how to get this printer working. Well I know nothing about that printer. How does it interface to the computer? Parallel Port or USB? If it is USB, try looking under Yast---> Hardware ---> hardware info ---> USB and see if your printer is listed. Unplug & replug the USB cable in and see if there are any entries in /var/log/messages when you do it. Also check in the same file for entries relating to "hotplug" when you last booted. BTW you need to be root when looking at the above file, your best bet is from the Kmenu --->System -->File manager--->File Manager Super User If parallel port have a look and see if you have the parallel port modules loaded. THe command is "lsmod" check for modules entries like the following lp 6304 0 (autoclean) parport_pc 28680 1 parport 25608 1 [lp parport_pc] That is about all the advice I can offer. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
