HI! Does anyone know, when KDE 3.5.1 packages will be available for Suse 9.2? Thanks! Thomas

Yesterday.
I noticed there are two packages having "3.5.1" in their name in the KDE apt repository for SUSE 9.1, at least they have been yesterday. Is this a mistake or will there be all KDE 3.5.1 packages for 9.1 at some point? I'm just asking since the "normal" KDE supplementary directory doesn't even have a SUSE 9.1 subdir anymore... AFAIK, SUSE 9.1 has been discontinued. Currently, only 9.2 and up are supported. Alvin

That's why I'm asking about the 3.5.1 RPMs in the SUSE 9.1 repository: $ apt policy kdelibs3-devel-doc kdelibs3-devel-doc: Installed: 3.5.0-13 Candidate: 3.5.1-12 Version Table: 3.5.1-12 0 500 ftp://ftp.gwdg.de SuSE/9.1-i386/kde3-stable pkglist *** 3.5.0-13 0 100 RPM Database 3.2.1-41 0 500 ftp://ftp.gwdg.de SuSE/9.1-i386/base pkglist Ingo -- "What're quantum mechanics?" Not much more than those two built anyway ;-)...
will there be all KDE 3.5.1 packages for 9.1 at some point?
No. Bye, Steve

Ok, so no need to invest time here, eh? ;-)

No.
But then it might be a good idea to remove them again, no? Ok, it's the devel-doc and the i18n-de package which might not do any harm. But I at least find it a bit confusing and inconsistent. Guess I'll have to update the system on my desktop then... But maybe I'll wait for SUSE 10.1 as I don't have the time for an upgrade right now anyway. Cheers, Ingo -- "What're quantum mechanics?" They have been deleted from ftp.suse.com. SUSE doesn't create or control those apt repositories. (And my personal experience was that you cannot have a normal discussion with the administrator of that apt ftp site.) Bye, Steve

Would this be a case for downloading and running rpm -Uvh or would this work in YAST sources??
So, as a Libertarian, how much is this information worth to you? You should compensate me for supplying the answer, right? This repository does not appear to have the necessary configuration file used by YaST, so download and explicit installation of the RPMs is the only option. For an installation of this magnitude, I'd personally stick to one of the YaST-enabled repositories. I use <http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source>. In your case it would be <http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.2/yast-source/>. Note the "directory.yast" file in each of these directories. It is this file (not its mere existence, but its properly formulated and formatted content) that integrates a repository with YaST's Software Management ("Install and Remove" in earlier SuSE releases) module.
