Bug reports to go to bugzilla.novell.com or bugs.kde.org?
Recently a bug I reported on bugs.kde.org was marked as invalid saying it is SUSE-specific. Therefore I reported that bug at bugzilla.novell.com where it was accepted. Now I do not know whether to report a bug in a KDE application to bugzilla.novell.com or bugs.kde.org. Please advise. Thank you. -- Tux #395953 resides at http://samvit.org playing with KDE 3.51 on SUSE Linux 10.0 $ date [] CCE +2006-02-24 W08-5 UTC+0530

Generally, if the problem is caused by the underlying system ("K3b doesn't work with my cd burner" or SUSE specific code _in_ KDE ("Amarok won't play mp3s using the Helix backend") then it's for bugzilla.novell.com. If it's something that could be in any distribution's version of KDE (e.g. "Konqueror crashes at www.somesuckysite.com"). It may not be easy for a regular person to distinguish this though, so if your bug got closed INVALID there is no ill feeling there. Tell me some more about the bug and I'll explain why it was rejected at b.k.o but not at b.n.c. Will

This is a dependency issue which should have been resolved during packaging. The KDE folks are right, this is not something they can do something about. Generally speaking, if you have a RPM package dependency issue the packager (in this case, SuSE) is to blame, rather than the project. The packager should make sure that all dependencies are resolved, either by only using the packages used by the version the package is build for, or by providing *all* needed updated packages with the update. I reported https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=152141 also. Thanks for replying. (Arjen's mailer had changed the from ID so I am resending to the list.) -- Tux #395953 resides at http://samvit.org playing with KDE 3.51 on SUSE Linux 10.0 $ date [] CCE +2006-02-24 W08-5 UTC+0530

Actually the yast source for updated KDE packages knows about this dependency and will update qscintilla.rpm for you. It's only a problem with manual installs. If you install using the yast source it will 'just work'. Will

I've fixed it - it was a 2 line fix. The midnight commander mode of konqueror is a normal part of konqueror, not a suse addition, so you could have reported this at bugs.kde.org. The next KDE packages from SUSE will have this fix, and it's upstreamed to main KDE svn too. Will
