kdebase3-SuSE Error With New kde-3.1.95 Packages
Hello all, I've managed to resolve all dependencies with the new kde packages, the 3.1.95 packages, save one. While installing <rpm -Uvh *rpm> as su/ root I get the following error: error: Failed dependencies: kdebase3-SuSE <= 9.0 conflicts with kdebase3-3.1.95-0 I've searched this mailing list and several others but I couldn't find any suggestions or hints to resolve this error. And, a newer kdebase3-SuSE package has not made its way to the SuSE downloads site, nor have I found it in the supplementary > kde section on the ftp site. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions? Thank you, in advance, for any help. Chris/CMS

There have been some mails on this either here or the main SuSE list. You will have to remove the kdebase3-SuSE as well as a couple of others. Use YaST2 to help settle all dependencies. This file is some of the extra SuSE eye candy, etc. included with 9.0, but the latest KDE3.2 does not need these. SuSE may later add this back with files available to us or in the next release, but for now, if you want to update to 3.2, they have to go! Hi Chris, you have to deinstall it (rpm -e kdebase3-SuSE). It is just SuSE Eyecandy, and 3.2 will work fine without it. Do that as the very last thing before installing kde3.2rc1. However it seems to include some icons, you might have to manually reset some of them on your desktop etc. May be there will be a new kdebase3-SuSE later, when kde3.2 is finally released. HTH, Matt
