[opensuse-kde] I need a hero!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, We're plagued by a bug that is in its nature minor, but makes the whole Factory development model a mess: plasma doesn't start correctly *sometimes* on first boot. It's always the same - the system installs cleanly and then you end up in a screen like this: https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/49951/modules/first_boot/steps/2 Plasma is fine - beside the missing panel. We changed the tests to upload tons of log files (download them from e.g https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/49951), but noone so far found the reason. I bet this is a stupid race of config file creation deep within plasma initial startup - but it's a real bug and we need someone to hunt it ;( I will test drive as many patches as needed, but someone needs to actually create debug output or develop a theory what's going on. Just to give you an idea: for the current tumbleweed snapshot we had to restart 14 tests for this problem ;( Greetings, Stephan -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iEYEARECAAYFAlTspYQACgkQwFSBhlBjoJaOdQCeKoLoq0W2QRKqmi1mmghYSawr shoAnih7NWoQqVm5uJmYbtF3ZRYTSajt =LevE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I guess for start we'd need to use upstream branding, or remove kdebugrc from openSUSE branding to get more output visible.. Cheers, Hrvoje
Greetings, Stephan

And so I did and https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/50154/file/XSE shows tons of things that look rather worrying, e.g.: kwin(1817) KWin::EffectsHandlerImpl::loadEffect: EffectsHandler::loadEffect : Effect "kwin4_effect_startupfeedback" is not supported plasma-desktop(1814)/libplasma Plasma::isPluginVersionCompatible: unversioned plugin detected, may result in instability Object::connect: No such signal QDBusAbstractInterface::StateChanged(uint) QGraphicsLinearLayout::insertItem: cannot insert null item QObject::connect: Cannot connect (null)::update(QRectF) to Panel::updateRect(QRectF) QObject::connect: Cannot connect (null)::update(QRectF) to Panel::updateRect(QRectF) plasma-desktop(1814)/libplasma Plasma::isPluginVersionCompatible: unversioned plugin detected, may result in instability Greetings, Stephan -- Ma muaß weiterkämpfen, kämpfen bis zum Umfalln, a wenn die ganze Welt an Arsch offen hat, oder grad deswegn. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I tried with a debug build and it's basically impossible to trigger with it ;( So I added tons of kWarning() calls to the panel, but the debug output of a failing test looks basically the same as a working test. So this must be somewhere else ;( Greetings, Stephan -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iEYEARECAAYFAlTvIkgACgkQwFSBhlBjoJYqJQCg1rSRRb0Chkape4w8gHUh3Mxe TdMAnRvf/SfD8Y7B3VR4jlXEGaPJUWeQ =9VLO -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
