I have a problem that started after installing a new kernel. After the "Boot Options" screen, I now get a message saying; "You passed an undefined mode number. Press return or wait 30 seconds etc..." Can someone explain to me how to fix this. Please make reply simple for a ex-Winxxx user!

This sounds maybe like your graphics splash screen that covers all your text scrolling up the screen didn't get made after installing the new kernel. What size screen are you running and are you ok after booting to KDE or Gnome or ? After you boot to your preferred GUI, open a shell, login as root. To create and set the splash screen again use: mk_initrd -s <screen size> (ex: 1024x768, etc.) That should put it back right for you. regards, Lee -- --- KMail v1.7.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!"
