[opensuse-kde] Files copied from audiocd with either konqueror or dolphin have zero byte size
Hi, in earlier openSUSE and KDE releaeses it was possible to use the "protocol" audiocd in konqueror. This resulted in a presentation of the files on the audiocd and some fake directories like MP3. When I used this yesterday on openSUSE-11.4 and Konqueror-4.6.2 it shows the (wav) files, the fake directories, etc, but when I tried to copy the files the copied files have a 0 (zero) bytes size. :( What is the reason for this, is this a known bug (I searched for it, but could not find it)? Is there a way to debug this? I have been able to retrieve the files, via an old openSUSE version I've but it would be so nice if this functionality would be working in the openSUSE-11.4 that I have. -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Seems broken for me to on stable 11.4/4.6.0 with Konq. But with Dolphin it works - at least ripping to ogg and flac, mp3 seems to have some issue. And of course there's other cd ripping software like k3b and audex which you could try. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I tried to copy wav files from the audiocd to disk. Even this resulted in 0 byte files. Once I've a copy of the wav file, it is easy to convert...

k3b for ripping files from a CD? I always thought it is for burning CD / DVD. I'll have a look at audex. There seems to something like cdfs as well. Perhaps I should have a look at that as well. But why the regression with the audiocd handler in konqueror and dolphin. It is a pity :( Are you aware of a bug report? Is it an openSUSE only problem, or is it a upstream problem? -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I was able to build cdfs, and to mount an audiocd. It shows the wav files and some information about the files in /proc/cdfs, but that is basically it. I was not able to copy a wav file with it :( -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

just to let you know, I opened a openSUSE bug for this problem: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=688038 -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The problem for mp3 is with the lame package from packman. It works with the one from the videolan repo also with konqueror, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=631269 I already reported it to the packman mailing-list, but no reaction so far. I tried using audiocd:// and had the same experience as you it gave no indication of progress - I figured it must have hung so I killed it after a while. I assumed I was missing some package/codec as is often the case with multimedia apps - but with no obvious way to get debug output I abandoned the investigation. k3b worked great though (it has a menu option "Rip Audio CD", install the necessary codecs beforehand).
