Recently I upgraded from 7.3 to 8.0. With 7.3 it was easy to rip my CD's to the Ogg Vorbis format using the I/O slave in Konqueror. Now when I click on the Audio CD Browser get the error message An error occurred while loading audiocd:/ The file or directory / does not exist. I think this is a permissions problem, but I have checked my permissions, and they seem fine (at least to me:)) Here is my setup CD-RW as seondary Master hdc I have hdc=ide-scsi in lilo.conf /dev/cdrom and /dev/cdrecorder are both linked to /dev/sr0 Owner is mikecoan (me) and group is users. Permission is rw------- so I have rw permission. cdrom is linked to /media/cdrom and cdrecorder is linked to /media/cdrecorder These are owned by root, with group=disk. I am a member of disk. The permisssion for /media/cdrom and /media/cdrecorder are rwxr-xr-x. Seems to me that in 7.3 I had the owner of sr0 as root with group=disk. Any guidance would be appreciated. Mike

irrelevant. You don't mount audio cds and those directories are for mounting only. Check the permissions on /dev/sg0. Also check that the module sg is loaded. Also check which device audiocd is set to in Control centre->sound->Audio IO Slave regards Anders

Anders,

Thanks very much for the reply. /dev/sg0 was set as follows: owner- root and group- disk. I added rwx privileges to the group. The audiocd device is set to "Determine device automatically. I have experimented with audiocd device set to /dev/cdrom and /dev/sr0 I have changed owner and group of sg0 to mikecoan and users respectively. I added suid privileges to owner of sr0 and sg0. I can paly audio Cd's with both Kscd and Xmms. i just can't get the Audio CD browser to read them. Currently both sr0 and sg0 are owned by mikecoan and group =users. Permissions for both are rwx------ /dev/cdrom and /dev/cdrecorder both link to sr0 When this worked in 7.3, I had a dvd on /hdd. I am woondering if the hdc=ide-scsi is causing a problem with the audiocd browser. Mike -- Michael A.
