Hello SuSE people. Just upgraded to 10.0 from 9.2 Used to use Xmms to listen to my CDs' mp3s' etc. Couldn't load any music into it so I decided to try amarok. First I had to change the engine from helix to xine (whatever the helix engine is) Now I can load and play my mp3's wav's etc. from the hard drive. Cannot however, make it find and play a music cd. Will it do that? or is it just me? Must have spent an hour exploring the menus without any success. Somebody put me on the right track here? Bob S.

Just a guess: do you have set something like "digital signal extraction" somewhere in the preferences? IIRC most if not all linux media players don't have that enabled as default and thus require a cable between the CD drive and the soundcard. At least for xmms I had to do this on my SUSE 10.0 installation. Thanks for the guess Ingo, but that is not the case. And I do have the cable between the cdplayer and the board in place. There was no problem with 9.2 and the exact same hardware setup. Something has changed. The default CDDB. which offers to play it when a music CD is inserted, will not play it either. My question remains, Is amarok able to play CDs? I cannot get it to use the tracks which I can bring up from install media. Bob S.
