Interesting that SuSE did not put in that package which is required to install KDE 3.2.1.
Look again, it is in the base subdirectory. I downloaded it a few hours ago from the mirror at ftp://linux.mathematik.tu-darmstadt.de/pub/linux/distributions/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.1/base/ Mario

Apparently Adrian forgot to put them on the SuSE ftp site so they never appear on the mirrors. But good fortune shines on you... they are in the SuSE directory on ftp.kde.org. Which makes NO sense since I was under the impression the pkgs were made by the same person. I'm confused about this.. But in any event that's where you'll find it. -- Linux User #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- "There is no need to teach that stars can fall out of the sky and land on a flat Earth in order to defend religious faith."

Which directory do you mean? I get all my SuSE 8.2 KDE Updates from that server. arts-1.2.1 is not in the ftp.kde.org/pub/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.2/base/. Do you have any other hint where to get that package? Stefan

There's no /pub/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8 on ftp.kde.org. arts-1.2.1 for SuSE 8.2 is in ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.2.1/SuSE/ix86/8.2 Cheers, Leen

Yes, on (a mirror of) ftp.suse.com. ftp.kde.org is not a mirror of ftp.suse.com ;P

ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.2.1/SuSE/README IOW: not from ftp.kde.org (available as first, but no updates) but from (a mirror of) ftp.suse.com (available a bit later, with regular updates). I usually install from ftp.kde.org, and replace those packages with those from (a mirror of) ftp.suse.com. Cheers, Leen

It is not arts-1.2.1-7.i586.rpm as it should be. But maybe this is just a typo? Mario

Oh sorry. Should have read the subject :-( What about building the the binary from source rpm? I think you can try the found in the update_for_8.1/source dir. Chris -- Christoph Dohmen ChDohmen@gmx.de

Indeed. And the URL seemed so strange... ftp.kde.org is a mirror of ftp.suse.com Sorry Stefan! Cheers, Leen

What you have listed above is the mirror of ftp.suse.com. I forgot that existed. You need to look here.. ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.2.1/SuSE/ix86/8.2/ -- Linux User #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- "There is no need to teach that stars can fall out of the sky and land on a flat Earth in order to defend religious faith."
