This isn't exactly KDE related but it sort of is. I don't have a broadband connection yet, so I can't feasibly download 8.0 Could someone provide me a link to a Web site which has the download edition's CDs (i.e. no tech support or commercial apps) ready for shipping at a low price? I usually go to linuxcentral.com because they've got low prices. However, they don't seem to have it. Can anyone else direct me to another Web site? TIA

For lots of reasons that aren't worth rehashing here you won't find anything like that. The README.iso-images file on ftp.suse.com gives the official company statement on this. -- -ckm

Wow, you mean Linux Central sold out of their stock? That is where I get mine as well, but I ordered the day they got it in stock. I have heard of some ordering it from Amazon.com & I believe BestBuy.com have it listed, but I have heard also that Best Buy or Circuit City will not be carrying any linux distros anymore? Good Luck on your Quest! I find it weird that in the Wednesday local paper in Alameda, CA (near Oakland) they had WinXP and SuSE 8.0 right next to each other with no mention of RH. ;) I'd just like to read the article that talks about Best Buy. :) Cheers! -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--

Ben, I forgot where I had read this. I hope that they continue to carry it and I think it would be very shortsighted of them to stop at this point when there is so much press about Linux now. I know CompUSA still has it, but the last time I checked Best Buy, they had not gotten it in to order or in the local stores here. I have never really checked Circuit City as they usually only had MDK or RH when they did carry it. My local Best Buy in Annapolis, MD has had many copiies of both Personal and Pro 8.0 in stock since last Monday. Chumbo.com has them, too. Bob On Saturday 11 May 2002 18:39, Patrick wrote:

-------------------------- This is really good news then, as I was certainly concerned that they might not be carrying it any longer from what I had heard. My information was obviously incorrect and these stores are still on the bandwagon with Linux. Thanks for the heads up guys and I am sure the original poster will be happy to know he can find SuSE in many places still. :o) Patrick -- --- KMail v1.4 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Magic Page Products -- Amiga-SuSE-PC Sales & Service URL: http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb

Hi folks, I found SuSE Linux during my last stay in Grand Rapids, MI, Cleveland, OH and Akron, OH in every Circuit City store. Greetings from Germany Michael

I bought my 8.0 from BestBuy off the shelf last week for $79.95 and they ran an add Monday for $69.95. I got $10 + tax returned already. BestBuy in Avon, Indiana, had probably 20 Personal & 20 Professional on the shelf and this is a smaller satilite store. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org
