Hello SuSE people, After upgrading from 9.2 to 10.0 and KDE 3.5 I see some changes in kmail. (Really wish they would stop "improving" it. Worked great in 9.2. It used to be that when I was in a folder eg: suse-kde, I could click new message and the new mail format .would come up from me, the sender, and be addressed to the list automatically. All I had to do was write the message and send it. Very convenient and easy. Now there is no "New message to Mailing List" The old "Reply to Mailing List" is still functional. Is it just me? Am I missing something? Or have they broken a great function in kmail ? Hmmmmm.. do I need to file a fix-it report to kde? And what is this new "via" thing they have added. Not necessary with the old and proper setup. Anyway, thoughts, advice, shape up buddy-you're missing it ideas? Bob S.

It´s still there and works fine. Config your kmail-Toolbar (Not the kontact-Toolbar), it´s there. bye René

Ok, I checked it, you´re right. But it´s not a KDE-Bug. I´ve the same KDE Versions on SuSE 9.3 and 10.0. On the 9.3 System it works fine, but not on the 10.0. A mistake in the RPM-package? ciao René

Thanks all, for replying. Rene, I don't normally use the toolbar, just the menus above it. Anyway, I put it on the toolbar and it works fine. That didn't add it to the "Message" menu but it did bring back Control+Shift+n though. Just wish they wouldn't "improve" things that don't need improving. Roger wrote"
I don't have KMail setup on my SuSE box, but, I did check it there and it appears to work the same as my Ubuntu box. If you click folder/mailing list management, you can setup that the folder holds a mailing list. That also seems to activate the ctrl+shift+N. It also activates right clicking on the folder and having an option to send new mail to mailing-list. I'm running KMail 1.9.1 on KDE 3.5.0 on Ubuntu and Kmail 1.9.1 on 3.5.0 level "a" on SuSE.
Thanks for that, forgot how to do it. I see they have taken "Edit Message" out of the menu also. The only way to edit a message that I can see, is to right click on the message. Maybe it is a bug. Think I will report it if I can find my way there. Bob S.

Nope I have the same problem, you can't do control+shift+N ,either. That key combo which in past versions also popped up a blank page w/ the list address all in it. <snip> -- j "You never know until you try It's hard to see which side your on Some people say your half way here Some people say your half way gone" song lyric

Try to assign (Settings->Shortcuts) the function "new mail on mailing list" with an other shortcut (e.g. ctrl+alt+N), apply the changes and the re-assign it again with the default shortcut (ctrl+shift+N). Works for me. Kimmo

Works for me. Tried that, but it didn't work either . I suppose it would helpful to say I am using Kmail 1.8.2 and KDE 3.4.2 level "b" ( and a boxed set of Suse10.0 rather than OpenSuse.. in case it matters. ) I suspect the version of KDE and Kmail Might have something to do w/ it tho. HAven't done the upgrade yet.. -- j "You never know until you try It's hard to see which side your on Some people say your half way here Some people say your half way gone" song lyric

Works for me. Rats, no luck here. Kmail is version 1.8.2 using KDE 3.4.2 level "b" and Suse 10.0 out of the box, rather thaaan OpenSuse. Not sure if that matters, but it might.
