[opensuse-kde] kwalletmanager and kde4.5.2
Hi, yesterday I migrated one of my machines (openSUSE 11.3) to kde4.5.2 from the release repository in order to test this version. Now it seems kwalletmanager is not working. Installed is kwalletmanager-4.5.2-1.4.i586 together with kwalletd from kdebase4-runtime-4.5.2-7.1.i586 What happens: I can start kwalletmanager. I can see kwalletd and kwalletmanager in the process list but - no window for the walletmanager appears. No error message is shown when I start the walletmanager directly from the command line. So how can I manage my saved accounts now? Andreas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Try accessing kwalletmanager via Systemsettings. Can't remember the exact location the new 4.5 systemsettings layout. And also check your systray settings wrt. (auto)hiding of kwalletmanager -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

OK, my KDE is in German; but the settings I found are in (translated from german); Systemsettings - user account details - wallet there I find it's activated; auto-hiding is disabled but it should be shown in the systray - that's activated. This part looks fine for me Any more ideas? Andreas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

What output do you get if you, using kdebugdialog, enable all debug messages, then start kwalletmanager in a konsole? OK, I start kdebugdialog: there's a flag set for "all debug activated". Window is open. Next I start kwalletmanager in a konsole. Output: --- cut here --- Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::\ serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString) QDBusConnection: name 'org.kde.kwalletd' had owner '' but\ we thought it was ':1.189' --- cut here --- Then I see the prompt again. In the process list both kwalletmanager and kwalletd can be found; they seem to be started. (I checked that neither kwalletd nor the manager was running before I made this test) Andras -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Then I see the prompt again. In the process list both kwalletmanager and kwalletd can be found; they seem to be started. When I had that problem with kde 4.5.1 I killed the running kwalletmanager and restarted it with "kwalletmanager --show". The reason for my problem was a broken systray fixed finally by moving away .kde4.

That was indeed a good hint. "kwalletmanager --show" worked - I can see my window. So I removed this miniprogramm (called in german version "System- abschnitt der Kontrollleiste"), I added it again - problem solved.
