Installation of kde3.1 on SuSe8.1

Hello everybody, can someone give me a short description how to install the new kde on 8.1? I'm currently working with 3.0.4 and tried to use YOU, but this doesn't work. I just downloaded all rpm's for kde3.1, but "rpm -ivh --test *" in the download-directory gives me a lot of dependency-errors. So what is the correct and easiest way? Thank you Daniel

First I would sort the packages the same way as SuSE did (base ...). Then cd into your base-dir and use rpm -Uhv --test *.rpm as you are updating the existing kde rpms (unless you uninstalled them before). If you get any dependency errors try to resolve them by downloading the needed package and putting it in the same dir, or installing them themselves. If you have problems doing so post the output of rpm. If all is OK then go ahead and then do the same in the other dir(s). Regards Christian

OK, answering my own question I have to say I tried another way an succeeded :-) First I did "rpm -Uvh libart_lgpl*rpm" in the download-directory to prevent dependency errors... After that I did your "rpm -Uhv *rpm" and ist worked. I had a few "could not delete...because not empty" messages.....but now I have my new kde3.1. Just one application isn't working anymore: krusader...seems it needs some "old" kde libraries :-) Thank you anyway Daniel
