[opensuse-kde] Upcoming 12.2 factory new kdm theme
Dear KDE list, For those of you testing factory, you could find the first pictures of the new kdm theme for openSUSE 12.2 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-artwork/2012-05/msg00000.html In a few day the new branding package will hit factory. And I really would like to get any feedback about the new branding (artwork or factory -ml would be perfect place) And if some of you are able to test all kind of configuration to ensure the new kdm theme would not suffer the same defect as in 12.1, and report back. Thanks. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, wel..l I dont like too much new theme Few ideas: 1) user list on the left side... layout seems (is) too much uncentered. So only one window or no background under user list 2) light grey. I'm bored about all this light grey. We have this color since win 95 :) maybe something more dark.. and not only for kdm but the whole desktop them should be more darkish IMHO Bye. -- *** Linux user # 198661 ---_ ICQ 33500725 *** *** Home http://www.kailed.net *** *** Powered by openSUSE *** -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, wel..l I dont like too much new theme Few ideas: 1) user list on the left side... layout seems (is) too much uncentered. So only one window or no background under user list Well userlist has to be supported by theme, and will never be activated by default. so the theme main login box is centred

Then where your proposal 3-4 months ago when there's a contest about new artwork. It's just time to collect your ideas, and render them as concrete proposal for 12.3 (Be ready for August) Release by release, we have improved the way how the branding is made. If time permit, I would like for myself create a full new branding for 12.2 but be aware that it's really time consuming (we speak in terms of weeks here), and will always be perfectible.

Hi Bruno, I need this user list also _now_ for 12.1, but didn't read anywhere that it can be switched on so far. How can I do this with 12.1? I just started to switch to upstream for KDM to get this user list, but of course this breaks the design theme badly during boot and first login. Not really a professional solution, but what can I do instead? Don't want to dive into theme design to update the KDM design of openSUSE on my own. Unfortunately the 12.1 didn't have that part included. And fixing it, is not a small task.
I just started to switch to upstream for KDM to get this user list, but of course this breaks the design theme badly during boot and first login. With another theme the same will be true, bootsplash, kdm, ksplash should be in phase. Not really a professional solution, but what can I do instead? Don't want to dive into theme design to update the KDM design of openSUSE on my own. The solution could be to pick the next theme
Download all http://geeko.ioda.net/git/art/12.2/kdm/ and place them for example in subfolder called openSUSE in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/theme/ to activate userlist then edit manually /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc or use systemsettings to modifify the options like you want. Then (important) in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager you can change the theme by openSUSE (normally it's SUSE) This should achieve what you need. But 12.2 is not the same design than 12.1
Greetings Ralf

I agree but at least changing the colour scheme is just a few clicks away in KDE system settings. "LuckyEyes" is slightly darker shades of grey than KDE4 default and is a much better default imo. Dark themes such as "Obsidian Coast" are nice but we would probably find that most people prefer lighter themes. Certainly that seemed to be the feedback when KDE4 changed from the black to light grey as a default. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Bruno, I've been looking forward to this. Thankyou! And yes, I will help to test it. I assume it will be in the 12.2M4 release? Also, this may sound silly, but what is the box below the password field? Malvern.

It's domain. -- Regards, Minton. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Ah ok. But it won't show normally will it? I mean, it will either be toggle-able (and hidden by default) or only show if a user has previously connected to a domain, yes? Otherwise every desktop user will be asking me what to put in there, or more likely trying to type their password in there a second time.

It's hidden magically until the station is linked to a domain. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
