For example I opened a shell then typed (without the quote marks) "surf" and the program ran. If there is a problem w/ the way the program runs then it will probably give you clues in the shell window.
Better format?
(I may seem like I'm starting to pick on incredimail, really thats not my intention but It wouldn't be immediately obvious to someone just reading your message which parts are a quote from me and which are your reply. Of course I'm sure as soon as you get kmail setup and working things will be much better <GRIN>)
While in Konquerer looking for the z88 directory per your suggestion, i received an error from the KDE crash handdler. Signal 11 (SIGSEGV). I went to the backtrace tab and copied and save this error report. I don't know where to go to retrieve it so, if you need it you will need to tell me how to do this.
Unfortunately my understanding of linux doesn't really go to backtracing crashes etc, It does sound from your previous mail that you still may have system instabilities (you mentioned a crash when sending a mail I think). There is a shell command that you can use to tell you what programs are in an rpm package, unfortunately I'm not sure what it is. The error you recieved basically tells me that konqueror crashed. Usually, in this particular case I just try running konq again. If there is nothing really wrong then you should be able to work as normal. (currently I get 1 or 2 crashes from konq in a couple day period, without it affecting my faith in the system.) Curtis's suggestions about using the shell "konsole" were really good, if konqueror is crashing on you regularly then opening a terminal window and running konqueror from there would probably be the easiest way for you to get the info that the list needs to be able to help you. My new question for you is does konqueror crash every time you use it? Being that konq is such a key component of kde this would be one of the first things to fix unless you just prefer to switch windowmanagers (or use nautilus or another file manager, but that leaves you with unanswered questions about the source of your problem) I installed z88 and looked at what files were "program files" but this type of program is totally out of my experience (Dammit Jim, I'm a Carpenter, not a Mathematician ;-) z88 has numerous "program files" which exist in the /usr/X11R6/bin/ directory (remember also linux is case sensitive) but I don't have a clue which are meant for user interaction.
