I am running KDE 3.4.3 (SuSE 10). When I open a file or directory, the listing of files/directories always defaults to short view, which I then change to detail view. Is there any way to force this to detail view? I had hoped that changing it to detail view would be remembered, but it isn't. Thanks in advance.

Oops. I wasn't clear on what I wanted. Sorry. I want to attach a file in Kmail. I click on the "Attach File" button, which opens a window from which I can choose the file I wish to attach to the outgoing e-mail. A similar dialog window opens for other KDE apps. The problems is that even if I choose "detail view" in this window, this preference isn't saved. It worked in previous versions of KDE/SuSE, so I am baffled. The kdeglobals file has this: [KFileDialog Settings] View Style=Detail <snip> But some apps are not obeying the style directive. Is there a config file somewhere (other than kdeglobals) which I can manually modify to force the behavior? Thanks.
