konsole crashing with kdebase3-3.3.0-15 SuSE 9.1
Hi dear list! Today once again I updated my kde3.3 installation with the actual packages from supplementary tree. With this there came an update from my kdebase3-3.3.0-something to kdebase3-3.3.0-15. The konsole in this package is seriously broken. started in an xterm, I get the output: X Error: BadColor (invalid Colormap parameter) 12 Major opcode: 1 Minor opcode: 0 Resource id: 0x5000001 X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 18 Minor opcode: 0 Resource id: 0x5200001 X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 18 Minor opcode: 0 [...] I don't know if this is only the case with my xorg 6.8.1 (from SuSE supplementary, too) Can reproduce on two systems (P4 /w Intel 845 Graphics and Athlon XP2800 /w NVidia GF4Ti) At the moment I'm trying to solve the problem by rebuilding the source package of kdebase3-3.3.0-15 I will post if that helps. @SuSE staff: Please try to get into this problem, anyway. Any chance that removing ~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc and letting the config get rebuilt will do anything? Steve

The error occurs way before accessing (or rebuilding) konsolerc. So if I rename/remove konsolerc, it will not be recreated. Last thing konsole does before crashing is reading /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/iso8859-15/XLC_LOCALE, then a mmap and a munmap call and then it's crashing. So perhaps it's really a problem with xorg 6.8.1... Does anyone use this already and can confirm / rebut? more or less. same rpm of kdebase here, _not_ using x.org 6.8.1 but the default xfree that comes with suse 9.1, no crash. also none of those x error messages you got. bye, MH
