[opensuse-kde] The same kde look for every user
Hi! I'm trying to configure my server, so that every new and existing (by delete his .kde4) user has the same "default" kde look & feel, but I stuck on it again and again. (desktop, controlpanel, menues, icons, colours (and config of konqueror, firefox, opera)) I'm trying wih a testuser and copy some files from /home/TESTUSER/.kde4/share/config/ to /usr/share/kde/config/, but it does only work partially. Which files and folders may I have to copy from somewhere to anywhere, or is there any simple alternative? wstephenson told me on IRC that my text was to abstract, I have to write a bulleted list, so I will try. I have changed the following (screenshots at the bottom). BS: Linux 2.6.31.12-0.2-pae i686 System: openSUSE 11.2 (i586) KDE: 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) "release 0" I will change the default: - Desktop "Aktivität" (activity?) (-> Einfache Arbeitsfläche / simple Desktop?) - Desktop theme ("Glaze") - Desktop picture (37590-greenz2) - Icons on desktop (deleted Suse-greeter, firefox) - Control-panel on desktop (resize, icons for oOwriter/calc, QuickAccess browser, 2 virtual desktops on one line) - kde-menu (traditional, without "programs", "favorites", and some other entries) I have tried "kiosk-admin-tool", but it does not work with kde 4. - System-settings -> colours -> colours -> windows (set "normal background" to #ADD4E0) - konqueror (and firefox) proxy-settings (changed to localhost:80, exceptions "opensuse.org" and "wikipedia.org") Screenshots: http://picpaste.com/kde_nx-server_desktop.png http://picpaste.com/kde_nx-server_kMenu_1.png http://picpaste.com/kde_nx-server_system-colours.png http://picpaste.com/kde_nx-server_system-window-decoration.png Bye Olaf Am Dienstag, 27. Do you realize that if you erase ~/.kde then the user will loose all his mail, all his bookmarks, all his RSS feeds, his contacts and his calendar, and other data? Furthermore, existing users have configured the system as they like it, why do you assume that your preferred settings will be better for them? -- Dotan Cohen http://bido.com http://what-is-what.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
