undeletable mounted cd,dvd, floppy icons :(
Hi, after upgrading from Suse 8.2 to 9.1 I have a strange problem: There are three mounted icons of (all '/' are gone): devfd0mediafloppy devdvdmediadvd devdvdrammediadvdram I can't delete them as I'd like too because I have those under the new 'Arbeitsplatz' folder which I like better. I (as user) can't even umount them: I get this popup: umount: Nur »root« kann /dev/dvdram von /media/dvdram aushängen Please check that the disk is entered correctly. (yes a bilingual message). ok, I tried as root 'umount /dev/fd0' which delets the entry in mtab and changed the mounted icon to the umounted icon - fine - but still I can't delete them from the desktop - AND as soon as I restarted the pc they are mounted again. Not needed to be mentioned that all three devices are empty all the time! Any hint, how to get rid of them? Thanks in advance, Carl

I never came across this problem yet, so this is just a guess: Have a look in the /tmp/kde-(username)/Desktop* directory. There might be some *.desktop files, which you should copy to $HOME/Desktop, if you want them, or delete, if you don't. They are being created from hardware-autodetection and any leftovers might disturb your kde if they are adressing hardware which isn't really there. Martin
Martin, this (/tmp/kde-(usr)/Desktop* is empty. The problem is that those icons come up after reboot despite I unselected them under KDE->Arbeitsfläche->Verhalten->Geräte-Symbole. (Don't know the engl. expressions) If I umount them the disappear. Carl Am Dienstag, 8. Juni 2004 19:35 schrieb Martin Brüggebors:

Jim, there I have allready unchecked all unmounted devices. They all disappear if I umount them, BUT after if I reboot (not after logout-login to KDE) all three (floppy, combo, DVD-Writer) all three devices come up as mounted devices - despite nothing is loaded. Any ideas? Carl Am Mittwoch, 9. Juni 2004 17:56 schrieb jim barnes:

Thanks in advance, Carl
Right click on your desktop > configure desktop > (tab)device icons

Uncheck also the three mounted devices of interest.
