Does anyone know what happened to the GREAT fireworks screensaver that was included in 9.2....not in 9.3. Thanks, Fred -- "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!" Brought to you by the US Department of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act(s) numerous Presidential Directives, etc.

Maybe they removed it because of reports of problems with it, see the post here... http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2005-Jan/1598.html Scott -- POPFile, the OpenSource EMail Classifier http://popfile.sourceforge.net/ Linux 2.6.11.4-20a-default x86_64

No, it's a regression. The same bug that was fixed in September has resurfaced.

This looks like a GL problem, not a screensaver problem. And in any case, when something is forceably disabled from an rpm it will be noted in the changelog. This isn't manually disabled, it's just that the fix has disappeared

Sorry Fred, but I think i failde. I do have installed the firework screensaver even on KDE3.4, but it´s the only one i can not use..don´t know why. When i execute /usr/lib/xscreensaver/fireworkx the screensaver shows up in a extra window, but the desktop entry /opt/kde3/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers/fireworkx.desktop seems anyhow broken. Trying to open the Properties brings up Die Desktop-Datei /opt/kde3/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers/fireworkx.desktop hat einen ungültigen Menü-Eintrag InWindow,Root,Setup. (has a wrong Entry ...) Don't know what's wrong ... Micha
Thanks,
Fred

Ok......thanks for looking at it. Hopefully, someone will fix it. It's one of the best screensavers we've had for Linux. 'Sure would be GREAT to have one of the new aquarium screensavers ported to Liunux. ;) Fred -- "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!" In the meantime i found out that i have two (2) links to firework in the screensaver konfiguration Dialog. One under OpenGL, and another one under Simulations. The one under Simulations works here. Not this greate then the one under KDE 3.3.2, but it works. I can not say if it has somthing to do with this, but i renews the Desktop Entry /opt/kde3/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers/fireworkx.desktop before i found out that there is a second Entry in the screensaver Dialog. So have a lock into Simulations. If there is a second Entry try this on, if not, you probaby have to fix the Desktop Entry too. Greetings Michael
Fred

No "simulations" here. I do have the file, fireworkx.desktop, but don't have a clue how to fix it. Fred -- "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!" Brought to you by the US Department of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act(s) numerous Presidential Directives, etc.

Yep..."Gadgets and Simulatons." This ISN'T the fireworks screensaver we had in 9.2. This one obviously doesn't take advantage of GL. It does show some promise, but needs work.
