I am running kde 4.0 just to get a feel for it and have only one real mystery at this point. The plasma panel seemed to crash and I have not been able to get it back. I am yet to find a particular command to start the panel and wonder if I haven't done something to make it go away. In any case I would appreciate any hints to get it back. Yea I thought of that. No joy. System is Opensuse 10.3 X86_64 and pretty vanilla. I started the kde3 kicker just to get to things easily but I would still like to be able to find out what is going on with the panel. When I start it from the command line this is the output: X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) 8 Extension: 156 (RENDER) Minor opcode: 4 (RenderCreatePicture) Resource id: 0xc1 findServiceByDesktopPath: not found Allen -- Time is the best teacher. Unfortunately it kills all its students. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Thank you Sven. That led me to the problem and the solution. $KDEHOME wasn't set. I set $KDEHOME and ran the command and it worked. Allen -- Time is the best teacher. Hu? I hope you didn't set KDEHOME (permanently) to ~/.kde Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
