[opensuse-kde] frequent passphrase popups from kwallet, probably in combination with kmail
Hi everyone, since upgrade from OpenSuSE 13.1 to 13.2 (respectively kdepim 4.11.5 to 4.14.3) I notice more frequent kwallet passphrase popups of the type "The Program IMAP-Konto 1 of Type IMAP-E-Mail-Server requested opening of kwalletxxx. Please provide passphrase". I suspect it is related with intermittent UMTS connection during travelling. Could somebody point me to the log-files, so I can start collecting information for a bug report, please? Thanks in advance and best reagards. Just for reference: do you have your wallet set to close after a certain amount of time or similar options? Can you check them with "kwalletmanger"? -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

Well, yes, close after 10 min inactivity. I have also a checkmark at "Close, when no application accesses an more" (or so, I use german language setting). That did not happen, however, before the upgrade and I did not touch the kwallet settings.

I have one IMAP account and one POP3 account. Each of them has multiple entries in the access rules list. The wallet closes after some time, altough kmail is still open. I'd say it's expected, but perhaps the wording is not clear on how "inactivity" is defined.
setting). That did not happen, however, before the upgrade and I did not touch the kwallet settings.
I'm not using the inactivity settings, but there are two possible scenarios here: - It was broken before the upgrade (not honoring the setting) - It broke after upgrade (setting not keeping track of activity) I don't recall any big changes to kwallet upstream, though. As a workaround I'd suggest to untick "close after...." and keep "close when last application stops using". -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

I would say so, from my point of view.

Martin Schlander suggested the other way round. Anyway, I will test both settings next weekend and report my findings here. Best regards Thomas Hejze -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Here are the results: I was travelling the same route twice, on Friday I tried Martin's suggestion (keep "close after...." and untick "close when last application stops using") today Luca's (the other way round). Both solutions obviously worked. I did not observe those annoying passphrase pop-ups, although UMTS connection was interrupted several times. I, for myself, can live with that solution, although I do not completely understand, what is going on. I have never been playing around with those settings, but stick to the defaults of my installation. By the way, when I applied the mentioned changes to the settings, I was asked for my login password (not root, not the wallet passphrase, either), what seems weird to me because changes of KDE user mode settings are usually applied without extra authentication. I guess KWallet is shut down when the Akonadi agent goes offline due to your flaky connection, and thus stops using KWallet. Maybe try unchecking the option "Close down when the last applications stops using..." in systemsettings -> Account Details -> KDE Wallet and see if that doesn't solve the issue. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Gah, that was already suggested. I was tricked by the threading. Sorry. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
