With opensuse 11.2 M6 -2.6.31-rc6-3 from DVD image, and using kde 4.3 desktop the system boots and  I  log in as non-root or root, splash welcome screen  completes then screen goes blank except  for  an arrowcursor.    Accessing using ctl><alt>f4 allows me to see many  messages " /usr/bin/kwin --crashes n"  where n=1..9

  Who should I address this problem to?

Are you running the Nvidia display driver?

I have video card: S3 ViRGE /DX running S3virge driver tall it the hard

way? If yes to these remember you need to run the install script again to rebuild the driver module for the updated kernel.

as root and ran SAX2 to change to the Vesa driver, Booted as a user and followed the instructions for rebuilding (installing the hard way).

I did not look at error messages.

Now all works fine. This was with milestone M6-8.5-default this past weekend.
