-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello list, I tried to add a person to my KMail 1.4 Address Book, but when closing the window, I experience the error "Couldn't save Address Book" (Konnte Adreßbuch nicht speichern). The new entry was not saved. I'm just helpless with that! I deinstalled kdenetwork3 and reinstalled it after that, but to, surprise, no effect. This is on my SuSE 8 machine with KDE 3.0 installed. I still haven't managed to update to KDE 3.0.3 (or 3.1? Is it usable?). Could this help? Updating? Sven, Check the permissions on your config file for your user. Usually this is the biggest reason it won't save your changes as you don't have permission to write to the file. 3.0.3 is a very good update. I am stable here so far, except for a few Konqueror crashes, all seems to be working nicely. Patrick -- --- KMail v1.4.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206

Also check permissions of the addressbook itself. I still have K2.2.2, but mine's in /home/{user}/.kde/share/apps/kab . If that permission is wrong, fix it and look for other non-user permissions in your /home/{user} directories. This is an old problem, and little recognised. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAj1+Z4MACgkQnQ18+PFcZJucsACfZ8D076t9kcSJV3fbBM3cZlxm TisAn0LU+JPhPBP98GUN3+QWOcdAUR6w =uU6X -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, thank you for your input! Both of you advise me to check permissions. Permissions are ok below my homedir (the ones I've checked). ~/.kde/share/apps/kab is empty, but there is another directory /kabc with a sub-dir /lock; within two files: _home_sation_.kde_share_apps_kabc_std.vcf.lock _home_sation_.kde_share_apps_kabc_std.vcfxuVFDVa No risk, no fun: I deleted both and it seems to work now. - -- Sven Ehret - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Diese eMail wurde elektronisch signiert.
