Hi, is anybody that can understand why only in one user I can't change the starting display of KDE? Is only "fine tuning", but If I go in "Control Center" then "Theme and look" then "Start display" I can switch through "None", "Preset", "Redmond", "Simple", "Standard", "blue-dend" and "ksplashx-suse", but during the start I see everytime the "ksplashx-suse", undepending on my setting! Any idea? Thank you and sorry for my english, I usually speak Italian. Stefano

Did you click "Apply" after making your changes? Usually, if you try to exit the control center after having made any changes and without hitting "Apply", it will warn you and ask you whether to aplpy changes or not. Shriramana.

Hi Shriramana, thank you for your kind suggestion, but I clicked on the "apply" button, too. All seem to be good but nothing change after restarting.. ;-( The thing that I find strange is that ONLY with one account (my) I can't change this, with any other user I can change it without any throuble. Any other suggestion will be apreciated Stefano

This is just a long shot, but check to make sure that the user owns the config files. Sometimes I modify files as root and forget to change the ownership back to the user. This can prevent settings from being commited. I suggest that you use Konqueror and set View Mode to Detailed List. Then navigate through the ~/.kde directory, especially ~/.kde/share/config and make sure that the Owner and Group (3rd and 2nd last columns) are set appropriately. This is just a long shot, but may help, Alvin -- Please reply to the list.
Hi Alvin, thank you for your help. All is good (permission & owner) but it wouldn't go. At the moment I have some hardware throuble with my PC (It doesn't start) so I can't try other ways... Stefano Alvin Beach wrote:
