For every SuSE distribution since 6.4 I have been using X-win Pro from a windoze workstation to access the grahical desktop (KDE) on the various SuSE servers, I have running. Up to version 8.2 without any problems whatsoever. In V9.0 the local server console works OK, but when a remote login is attempted, I see a blue background (just like on the server console), but just as I expect the login box to pop up, server "hangs up", and the windows client is blown back to the broadcast selection menu. In /var/log/messages I get: Nov 6 22:52:42 fstlx3 kdm[1733]: Greeter exited unexpectedly Nov 6 22:52:42 fstlx3 kdm[1733]: Abnormal helper termination, code 1, signal 0 Nov 6 22:52:42 fstlx3 kdm[1215]: Cannot convert Internet address 192.168.32.20 to host name The last line is probably harmless, I have seen that for ages in running system. In /var/log/kdm.log appears: Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "192.168.32.20:0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "192.168.32.20:0.0". I feel rather lost about "X" and KDE stuff. Thanks in advance - Joern W. Andersen
