[opensuse-kde] Why kdebase3 has to be removed?
oS 10.3 After 3 errors (on 3 repositories) because download.opensuse.org is persistent offering opensuse.unixheads.net that curl can't contact, and changing repositories to ftp5.gwdg.de (thanks Eberhardt for keeping Goettingen servers in good shape), finally: # zypper up -t package The following packages are going to be upgraded: wine wine-doors python-qt4 python-sip kdebase4-wallpapers kde4-filesystem kdegames4-carddecks-other oxygen-icon-theme-scalable kdegames4-carddecks-default oxygen-icon-theme kde4-secpolicy kdenetwork4-filesharing kde4-kteatime kde4-kdepasswd strigi libkcddb4 kdebase4-nsplugin kdebase4-runtime cmake kde4-okular kde4-kio_sysinfo-branding-openSUSE kde4-ktouch kde4-kmix kde4-kcalc kde4-kcharselect kdeartwork4 kde4-ktux kde4-kreversi kde4-kdm kde4-konsole kde4-gwenview kdebase4-workspace-plasmoids libkde4 kdebase4 kdelibs4-core kde4-kompare kde4-kwin kde4-kgpg kde4-kio_audiocd libpoppler3 libkonq4 kde4-kwrite kde4-kruler kdebase4-libkonq kde4-kdessh kde4-krfb kde4-ksudoku kdebase4-openSUSE libkcompactdisc4 kde4-kfind kde4-ksnapshot libstrigi0 libsoprano4 kde4-kmahjongg kde4-kcolorchooser qtcurve-kde4 kdegames4 libkdecore4 kde4-kdf kde4-kstars kde4-kalzium kde4-kget kde4-konqueror kdelibs4 kde4-dolphin kde4-kcron kde4-kate soprano kdeedu4 kde4-keditbookmarks kdebase4-workspace-branding-upstream kde4-krdc kde4-ark kde4-kio_svn kdebase4-workspace kde4-kmag kde4-superkaramba kdebase4-session kde4-kwalletmanager kde4-kdialog kde4-kweather libpoppler-qt4-3 strigi-devel kde4-kwikdisk kde4-kfloppy kde4-kio_kamera libkdeedu4 kde4-kmines kde4-kio_sysinfo libkdegames4 kde4-kolourpaint libakonadiprotocolinternals0 kde4-umbrello kde4-kscd kde4-kpat kde4-kbugbuster kdemultimedia4 The following NEW package is going to be installed: kdebase4-workspace-ksysguardd The following packages are going to be REMOVED: kdebase3-nsplugin kdebase3-SuSE python-kde3 kdebase3-beagle k3b-lang kdebase3-ksysguardd k3b-codecs kdepim3 k3b kdebase3 kdebase3-session -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I'm not on 10.3 anymore, but AFAIK ksysguard conflicts between KDE3 and KDE4. My guess is that something within KDE4 is pulling in ksysguard as a suggests or recommended package, and that forces the removal of ksysguard/3, which is probably breaking the pattern or dependencies for KDE3 altogether. A bit of a mess of dependencies; I'm sure one of the devs or packagers would have a much better explanation, but for now I would try blocking ksysguard/KDE4 from being installed, and see if you still run into something similar. I could be off-base and it might be something totally different though, but I do recall having that issue before and avoiding ksysguard from KDE4 was the way around it at the time. Just a thought. It was kdebase4-workspace-ksysguardd; put taboo on it and update works, although I hit another known problem, zypper has no idea what is taboo. this is strange. I'll try reproducing it.. can you give me your list of zypper sources, please? Hi Dirk,
I ran before posting first mail: zypper ref zypper up -t package and I got the same result. After that zypper ref -f zypper up -t package but that didn't helped too. I have now all packages updated using long way around with yast sw_single, filter Package Groups, zzz_all, sort by available version, find kdebase4-workspace-ksysguardd and put taboo on it, then from context menu use "All in this list update if newer version is available". There is many sources so to make list shorter I filtered out only enabled. # zypper lr -e current # grep -B 5 -A 3 'enabled=1' current.repo [gwdg-sources] name=gwdg-sources baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/10.3/repo/src-oss/suse/ path=/ type=rpm-md enabled=1 autorefresh=0 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-Wine] name=gwdg-Wine baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/%2fpub/opensuse/repositories/Emulators%3a/Wine/openSUSE_10.3/ path=/ type=rpm-md enabled=1 autorefresh=1 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-KDE3-core] name=gwdg-KDE3-core baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_10.3/ type=rpm-md enabled=1 autorefresh=1 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-oss_1] name=gwdg-non-oss baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/10.3/repo/non-oss/ path=/ type=yast2 enabled=1 autorefresh=0 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-oss] name=gwdg-oss baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/10.3/repo/oss type=yast2 enabled=1 autorefresh=0 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-KDE4_1] name=gwdg-KDE4 baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE%3a/KDE4%3a/STABLE%3a/Desktop/openSUSE_10.3 path=/ type=rpm-md enabled=1 autorefresh=1 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-qt44] name=gwdg-qt44 baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE%3a/Qt44/openSUSE_10.3/ path=/ type=rpm-md enabled=1 autorefresh=1 gpgcheck=1 -- [gwdg-update_1] name=gwdg-update baseurl=ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/10.3 path=/ type=rpm-md enabled=1 autorefresh=1 gpgcheck=1 I can see some inconsistencies like missing 'path=/' in some entries, strange section titles, like: [gwdg-oss_1] name=gwdg-non-oss or [gwdg-update_1] name=gwdg-update while in YaST it looks fine as I have listed 'name=' in zypper it is problem when I want to use -r parameter then gwdg-update will not work, but gwdg-update_1, or in case of gwdg-non-oss I have to use gwdg-oss_1. Well this is question for zypper guys. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
