The mimetypes and icons are certainly fine as the KDE4 version (or Konqueror) does display the icons on the same system (with the same icon theme, I tried oxygen and breeze)... Those "files" are not really files though, and the mimetype is "unknown". Apparently this is handled differently in KF5. (KDE4 displays the "unknown" icon in this case) I have no idea if that change is on purpose, or a bug. If you think this is a bug, you should report it at http://bugs.kde.org/ though. I have no idea if that change is on purpose, or a bug. Only a cosmetic issue but looks bad IMHO...

In more than 15 years of using Linux I never came to the idea of browsing /dev with a file manager.... This is the first time now I do that. I see no sense in using a file manager on /dev to be honest. Actually dolphin even freezes when browsing /dev Using Leap 42.1 with current updates. HI, sense or not, it should work. Daniele. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Of course, you are right, it should work. It just amazed me, someone browses /dev with a file manager ;-) Guess what, I might try to browse /sys and see if that works :-) Regards Malte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I have done it with 'mc' quite often :-) Why - you ask. Why not? - I answer :-) Simply because the tool is there, it exists. People will use the tools they have, and many shun the terminal. What's more, people will expect things to happen when clicking on those "files". What things... that's up to the devs. Just saying :-) -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. That's caused by a bug in Qt5, fixed in 5.6... The freeze should only happen if you browse /dev as root, though. Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Nope, as regular, non-root user.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Not here, and https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=957006 also only mentions this happening as root. In the end that's purely by luck though, as the "files" that trigger the freeze are not accessible by a normal user. The situation might be different on some systems, maybe depending on the Linux distribution or even just the hardware/installed drivers or things like that. That's why I wrote "should"... ;-) Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
