[opensuse-kde] Tags don't move together with files
Hi, I encountered the following situation; I tagged a whole bunch of photos in gwenview, which works nicely. However the photos are located at a temporarely location, so they had to be moved. Moving the files is very easy of course, but when moving the files (via the command line, using 'mv') the tags did not move together with the files. As such I moved the files back to their original position and now the tags are shown again. As Dolphin is also capable to show the tags, I tried to copy the files with Dolphin, which again worked nicely of course, but still the tags did not move. Is it possible to move (nepomuk tagged) files, one way or the other, and have the tags move together with the files? -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Is there no one, that know whether it should be possible to move tagged files including their tags? No suggestion either? -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I don't use gwenview to tag/manage photos, but will run a test later today when I have graphical access to my photo processing machine and report. Does gwenview alter the file when tagging, or add a "sidecar" file, or generate "thumb" files containing the tags, or .... ? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I tagged a group of photos within gwenview and then moved them. The tags did not survive the move. Moving them back to the original directory did not restore the tags. Tagged them again w/gwenview and used gwenview to move the files with the same result. Gwenview retained the tag within it's own perview but it was not associated with the photos. sounds like time for a bug report or feature request. Thanks a lot for the pointer. I was just going to look for an already existing bug report, so you saved me a lot of time! That bug report is already 3 years old :( About a year ago someone reported that it worked (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161403#c25), but for me that is not the case today :( Also someone writes that it works when a single file is copied, tried that does not work... The bug report has zero votes so people don't find this important :( -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Maybe it was fixed and someone accidentally broke it later. Although they try to avoid them, regressions do happen from time to time. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

That has changed now, the bug report has now suddenly 40 votes. Patrick thank you for voting (just before me) :) -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
