[opensuse-kde] Kontact email send problems
Hi Is anyone else experiencing a problem sending emails from kontact? It seems every email i send via kontact fails with a server error and this message is shown in the email you open in the outbox "Dictionary was not found. Please verify that you will use a correct dictionary." It seems related to this https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356283 as the message "Grantlee theme "" is not valid" shown in akonadiconsole I can sometimes clear the problem by exiting kontact, stopping akonadi (just drops out with no messages most of the time), restart akonadi, do a fsck/vacuum then send the email from kmail instead of kontact (i sometimes have to delete the failed one and create a new one). But this only seems to work once. I am not having problems with sending here.

Does it help if you disable the option "Check spelling before sending" in "Configure KMail..."->"Accounts"->"Sending" maybe? At least that's what I would suspect first if the error message is that the "Dictionary was not found"... ;-)

I doubt that it's related. That's about *displaying* an email, not sending it. grantlee is a theming engine that's used to display mails according to a configurable theme/style. The error message seems to indicate a problem with the used theme. I don't get that error message in akonadiconsole here either though. Is this 17.12.0 already, or still 17.08.3? Hm. I started akonadiconsole again and now I did get that error message. Must have overlooked it before because the mail displayed fine despite of that (only the header is affected/missing). Probably a bug in akonadiconsole, but definitely unrelated to your sending problem. Kind Regards, Wolfgang I removed the Grantlee references in the Headers plugin, restarted kmail and had a successful send, hopefully this will be the second success. - NO, it failed again

I did try that and it worked once yesterday but my first email today failed with the error

grantlee is a theming engine that's used to display mails according to a configurable theme/style. The error message seems to indicate a problem with the used theme. I've now removed the 2 references to Grantless in the Headers Plugin, hopefully that might help. I've not manually specified a theme anywhere. I don't get that error message in akonadiconsole here either though. Is this 17.12.0 already, or still 17.08.3? 17.12.0-1.1
Kind Regards, Wolfgang

I have identical problem after update after couple of days to newest TW. Well, I have this problem in KMail. Restart of Akonadi/KMail doesn't help. It's on another computer and I had to leave before I could investigate it more, so I'm unable to tell more. I'm postponing upgrade of the computer I'm using right now... -- Vojtěch Zeisek https://trapa.cz/

It seems a bit random. I removed the "spell check on send" and the first email sent okay but the next email failed. I then removed the references to Grantlee in the Headers Plugins, restarted kmail and that failed email then sent ok. Hopefully this will be the second good email. -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20171220 Qt: 5.9.3 KDE Frameworks: 5.40.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.11.4 - kwin 5.11.4 kmail2 5.7.0 - akonadiserver 5.7.0 - Kernel: 4.14.6-1-default - xf86-video-nouveau: 1.0.15 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Luca. I can't apply the work around in the bug report but i seem to be able to get an email sent every now and again. -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20171220 Qt: 5.9.3 KDE Frameworks: 5.40.0 - KDE Plasma: 5.11.4 - kwin 5.11.4 kmail2 5.7.0 - akonadiserver 5.7.0 - Kernel: 4.14.6-1-default - xf86-video-nouveau: 1.0.15 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

A fix has been added to our package and it should land up in the Tumbleweed Update channel soon (if you don't have it enabled, please do so): your problem will get fixed with the update. It will also get included in the subsequent Tumbleweed snapshot. Credits go to Fabian for fixing the issue and Christophe for testing. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: A29D259B
