Hi, I have upgraded SuSE 8.2 to 9.0 and encountered strange problem with Mozilla (1.4 and 1.5, both SuSE built). Whenever I am trying to type text in URL input box or form field, Mozilla simply freezes. Clicking URL from bookmark is OK. The same happens with other Gecko-based browsers: Firebird and Epiphany. However, Opera and Konqueror are not affected, as well as ALL other Gtk/Java based programs. I have reinstalled all Gnome/Gtk libs, Mozilla, wiped our prefs, run reiserfsck, nothing helped. Anyone have an idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance. ********************************************* * Best Regards --- Andrei Verovski * * Personal Home Page * http://snow.prohosting.com/guru4mac/ * Mac, Linux, DTP, Development, IT WEB Site *********************************************
Hi - This is a well-known (now) problem in SUSE 9.0. It's got something to do with IPv6 configuration. I don't know the details - cleverer people than me worked it out. Anyway, what you have to do is disable IPv6 like this: Edit /etc/modules.conf Change line 339 and 340 from... alias net-pf-10 ipv6 # alias net-pf-10 off ...to... # alias net-pf-10 ipv6 alias net-pf-10 off The computer must be restarted before the changes will take effect. It worked for me. And it also fixes problems with some java programs. Best wishes - Ken On Wednesday 19 November 2003 9:33 am, Andrei Verovski (aka MacGuru) wrote:
