Hi.
I've installed realplayer 10 rpm package. To get the plugin working in firefox I had to link the nphelix.so & nphelix.xpt files to firefox plugin directory (/opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins). RP10 works perfectly now (bbc radio1's essential mix).
I did the same with konqueror. I linked both files to /usr/lib/browser-plugins. Konqueror finds the plugin. about:plugins shows: Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible version 0.4.0.362 built with gcc 3.2.0 on Aug 27 2004 nphelix.so audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin - RealPlayer Plugin Metafile (rpm)
Everything seems to be ok, but I it won't play. Where's the problem? Firefox on the other hand works perfectly, but I'd prefer to use konqueror.
I use SuSE 9.1 btw.
There was a lot of discussion about RealPlayer 10 on the list about, I think, a month ago, so have a look through the archives. As far as I can recall, the instructions say that nphelix.xpt has to be in the components directory, not plugins, for it to work with Mozilla - I'm not sure how this would tie in with Konqueror. Did you uninstall the old version of RealPlayer (if you had it)? David Sorry, I think the previous discussion might have been on suse-linux-e

Why not just get the rpm for RP10 and let it handle all this? Once installed, just tell Konqueror to scan for new plugins and you are done! Lee -- --- KMail v1.7 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Those Who Dance Are Considered Insane, by Those That Cannot Hear the Music!

Bojan, Not sure why it's not working for you, I didn't have any problems with Konqueror using the new player. Did you go into Konq's settings and have it search for new plugins? Once it's installed for Mozilla, from the rpm file, there is nothing else to do for Konq, except to tell it to search for new plugins. Did you check to see if you were getting a conflict from the old RP in the listed plugins? Is it possible that both are still installed and trying to be used? Konq doesn't handle plugins like Moz/Firefox does, so don't put plugins all over the place, as Konq will look there, possibly causing conflicts. If all is well with Konq finding the plugin, then it may just be a simple matter of file associations. Try to locate or determine what type of file is being used from the site then search for that file association. Make sure you have it set to run in the embedded viewer! Hopefully that will help. That is most certainly not the case. After RPM installation, the stock / SusE-supplied Mozilla (1.6.x) had both the RealPlayer 10 "nphelix" files in its plugins directory, so I manually replicated that in the 1.7.2 install that I actually use, and it worked fine (and didn't even require a restart of Mozilla to be found). Note, however, in Mozilla 1.6.x the "plugins" directory is a subdirectory of the "lib" directory, whereas Mozilla 1.7.2 has its "plugins" directory at the top level of its directory structure. I use Konqueror only as a file manager, so I have no idea if RealPlayer 10 is working there.

Well, that's what the instructions say to do for Mozilla. I use Firefox so I put nphelix.xpt in /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/components and nphelix.so in /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins (both soft links to /opt/RealPlayer/mozilla). I do not have nphelix.xpt in the plugins directory. It works with no problems and I can't see that Mozilla itself would be different.
