It is missing here, too. The cause seems to be https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/108407/ , which uses systemd-logind for suspend/hibernate, which the old version of systemd in oS 12.2 does not support. One work-around is to comment out session optional pam_systemd.so in /etc/pam.d/common-session and remove /etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.login1.conf. You also need to run systemctl stop systemd-logind.service as root, and log in again. Regards, Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Well, the idea is that systemd-logind should not be running at all. After I did the previous steps, it doesn't run on login and dbus cannot launch it either. On my system, both hibernate and sleep appear in both kickoff and the battery monitor plasmoid. I guess the main issue is indeed this systemd-logind patch that was pushed into KDE 4.10.1. We already had the patch in the workspace packages, but it was only activated for 12.3. The patch itself was written to detect whether ConsoleKit was used or Systemd. However I assume that this was done based on the latest version of systemd, so if this code now detects a running systemd-logind, it will automatically assume that systemd is used and activates this part of the code. But can something be done to assist us on 12.2? I'll be installing 12.3 in the next day or so... but others will have to wait for the release and or may not want to update yet -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

On my desktops, no. On my notebooks, sometimes. But booting from an ssd is quite fast, so I use it very rarely. Hi Carl,
At the moment we are trying to test with a patched kdebase4-workspace where we hopefully have improved the original patch and have it checking the systemd version as well to ensure systemd supports the methods. Unfortunately we do not have a 12.2 system available to test the patch for 12.2 and therefore I was wondering if you would be willing to install quickly a test build of kdebase4-workspace to see if this would resolve the issue for you with regard to hibernate/suspend. If so, then we can push the patch to KR410 and make other users happy. Regards Sure I'll test it Don't know how quick I'll be, I have work to do I'll get on to it Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

nice - just branch the kdebase4-workspace package, add the patch, let it build, activate publishing and send the repo with the branched package to the mailing list - someone will probably have time to test it then Nico -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

On the original problem, i believe this could be also solved by masking logind service, but that is not a general solution.

Based on the feedback provided, the patch has been added to the KR410 repository and currently the repo is rebuilding. Regards Raymond -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
