Hi, I am a newbie to linux and have recently installed SuSE 8.1. I run it with KDE. Now, some applications start with totally screwed windows and no fonts (but they start). Some examples are Gimp, Ethereal, Gqview, Grip. As far as I understand these are gtk+ applications, So I thought I might be missing the correct libraries. But in the Software Install section of YaST2 both gtk+ and glib are installed. Is there maybe a problem with the path? maybe with the fonts? Although I doubt the latter. Gimp starts with a window that is ca. 1 1/2 screens high and 1/8 screen wide. Any suggestions ? Kostas

I'm sure this has nothing to do with KDE but only with your gtk preferences. It sounds to me like you have an incomplete pango configuration. Go to a console and type "less /etc/pango/pango.modules". If this file is missing or has no content (or if you want to get sure), then become root and type: pango-querymodules >/etc/pango/pango.modules After that try again. Daniel
