[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.4.x still unstable ?
Hi List I'm wondering why KDE 4.4 is still unstable. Is KDE 4.4.2 really this unproductive, or why does it never becomes part of KDE4:STABLE ? Thanks Michael -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
Hi Michael, KDE4:STABLE indicates that this is the KDE version that was delivered with the lastest official openSUSE release (in this case 11.2). KDE 4.4 is part of KDE4:Factory, as that this would be the KDE release that would be shipped with the upcoming openSUSE release (11.3). The fact that it is in KDE4:Factory does say anything about the stability of the KDE 4 release. I believe that it is considered to be stable enough for daily usage. The only KDE release that is consider not for daily usage is the one that is delivered in KDE4:Unstable (this is a weekly svn snapshot of the upcoming KDE release). Right. It says in first place that there is no 4.4 release packaged yet in a form like we would put it on an openSUSE release. That will happen when 11.3 gets released, until than there is still consolidation work to be done :) This should not stop you from using the Factory packages though, but keep this in mind. bye adrian
